Abu Dhabi International Airport will open Terminal A on November 1, which will significantly increase capacity and strengthen the emirate’s position as a major aviation hub.
According to the press service of the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the transition of airlines to terminal A will take place in three stages over 2 weeks. Wizz Air Abu Dhabi and 15 other international airlines will begin flying from the new terminal on November 1.
From 9 November, Etihad Airways will operate 16 daily flights and will join Air Arabia Abu Dhabi and 10 other airlines for full operations at the new terminal on 14 November. By November 14, a total of 28 airlines will move into Terminal A.
The administration has already conducted testing, testing all systems, equipment, personnel, and procedures in key operational areas such as check-in, baggage, security, and boarding.
The new complex will have 35 thousand sq. m. m of retail space, which will house 163 shops and catering outlets.
Terminal A is one of the largest terminals in the UAE, which, according to the authorities’ plans, will help strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a global center for tourism, business, and entertainment. The terminal will double the airport’s current capacity of 20 million people and will be able to accommodate up to 45 million passengers per year.
It is worth noting that the largest airport in the UAE is located in Dubai – its capacity is about 80 million people per year.
