The UAE military intercepted two ballistic missiles aimed at the country’s capital, Abu Dhabi. This was announced on Monday by the Ministry of Defense of the Arab state.
According to the department, the shells were successfully shot down, and their fragments fell in different parts of the city. However, the incident did not cause any casualties or injuries. “The Emirates are ready to counter any threats and take all necessary measures to protect the state from all attacks,” the Defense Ministry said.
However, after the attack, it was decided to temporarily close the Abu Dhabi airport, where the country’s main carrier Etihad is based. Now the air harbor is operating as usual.
In addition, the US State Department, in connection with the shelling, urged all American tourists vacationing in the country and citizens arriving there for work purposes to exercise caution and not leave their hotels and places of residence unnecessarily.
It should be noted that on January 17, three oil tanks exploded in the industrial port of Mussafa in Abu Dhabi. Several foreign workers died as a result. The Yemeni Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack.
