A scandal is breaking out in Turkey related to the bankruptcy of the famous tour operator Detur, which once worked in Russia. “Restructuring” – at least, in the official statement of the tour operator, it is called that – for non-payment by the tour operator, tourists began to be kicked out of hotels, it is impossible to contact company representatives – everyone has gone into hiding, return tickets have not been paid, etc. This time, the main victims are Europeans, primarily Swedes.
According to Turkish media, at least 50 tourists who bought tours from Detur to Alanya found themselves in a similar situation. The tourists were evicted from the hotel because the hotel did not receive any money from “Detur” for their stay. Outraged tourists assure that they have fully paid for the holiday, including air tickets and hotel services through the tour operator Detur.
According to the Turkish mass media, the tour operator does not get in touch with the tourists. And in the message he sent to the hotel, it is said that Detur “has been sold to a larger company and all commercial agreements have been terminated.” Affected tourists are offered to pay the hotel a second time and keep the receipts, with the promise that the new owner will contribute the money – although no exact terms are given, and neither is the name. According to preliminary data, about 50 tourists were affected in only one hotel in Alanya – while many of them found out that their return tickets to Pegasus were also unpaid.
At the same time, the Detur company published an official statement about the restructuring – as well as the fact that it has suspended operations in the autumn period “to effectively build its plans and reduce financial risks.” However, the company’s optimistic statements are contradicted by publications in the Swedish media, which claim that Detur is banally bankrupt.
