Turkish Airlines set new records in July and August despite the global downturn in the aviation industry. During this time, the national carrier of Turkey has increased the total number of seats by 14 percent.
During the coronavirus pandemic, Turkish Airlines was one of the few that kept its route grid as much as possible. Moreover, the company continued to increase capacity during the worst recession in history. The data shows that in both July and August 2022, the global carrier carried more than 7.8 million passengers, beating its previous pre-pandemic monthly record.
Thus, in terms of the number of seats on international flights, Turkish Airlines is today the world’s largest airline. It employs 65,000 employees.
In August 2022, the number of seats in the aviation industry decreased by 19 percent compared to 2019. However, during the same period, Turkish Airlines increased its capacity by 14 percent.
