Turkey has raised the maximum price level for domestic flights from 1150 to 1650 lira. This happened after an increase in taxes and fees in the country.
For the first time, the maximum price for a one-way economy class flight within Turkey was introduced in 2013, then it amounted to 299 lire. In 2017, the cost increased to 352 liras, by the end of 2021 – to 499 liras, at the beginning of 2022 – to 599 liras, and then sharply increased to 1150 liras. The current growth is 43%.
Airlines operating domestic flights within Turkey have already responded to this decision: for example, tickets from Istanbul to Izmir immediately appeared in the Turkish Airlines booking system for 1,650 lira.
