Tourists who came to watch the whales witnessed a wonderful moment – the birth of a cub. The moment was caught on video and impressed netizens, Dip.org.ua reports.
The scene took place just meters from the boat of the whale watching group, near the city of Dana Point, California, south of Los Angeles.
The footage shows the female lying on her back. But suddenly a cub joins her, which emerges from the bloody water and swims happily around the mother. The passengers at first thought that the whale was injured. However, the group soon realized that the birth had actually taken place.
“It happens once in a lifetime,” said one woman who was on the boat.
Netizens react to videos in different ways. Someone worries about the whale and believes that the female “is under stress even without jubilant observers,” while someone admires and envy the passengers. There were also those who call the video “a complete disappointment”, because the birth process itself is not on the video.
