Tourists swimming in Antalya, Turkey, panicked after numerous fish bites

Tourists have raised panic in Turkey after numerous fish bites in the Mediterranean Sea near Antalya. However, as Akdeniz University professor Dr. Mehmet Gekoglu found out, vacationers receive a procedure to remove dead tissue. And it happens for free, without an application, and in natural conditions. But in some cases, fish try very hard, so vacationers sometimes feel pain from bites.

According to Sumhuriyet, complaints about bites began to come from travelers vacationing on the coast of Konyaalta in the main resort province of Antalya. They were all afraid that they had become victims of a pufferfish attack. We are talking about fish similar to Ukrainian crucians and are considered innocent species. The professor was convinced of this personally, having caught the “criminals” at the scene of the crime at sea.

Here is the explanation of expert Hekoglu: “At the moment, the temperature of the seawater in Antalya is about +30-31°C. When we go below 10 meters, the temperature of the water changes. Fish that gravitate to the shore in winter, especially those that like warm tropical water, float to the depths in winter. In summer, they swim to the coast. Where people go out to sea, and stand with their feet on the bottom, many fish gather. In particular, near the coast, there are plenty of sargos, Melania, and small representatives of sea bream.

Then the specialist spoke about the situation under the water and the feelings of tourists: “Of course, we always believe in what we see. We shot a video underwater for vacationers. These biting fish cling to leg wounds with their mouths and teeth. They touch the raised skin, pulling out the dead tissue. In a certain sense, they take care of the health of the skin. Sometimes when they touch the wounds with their teeth, they cause pain. The fish sometimes tugs at the hairs on its legs. It’s also unpleasant. This makes the rising generation of edible fish. There is nothing to be afraid of.”

Earlier, DIP wrote that “The main beach of the most popular Turkish resort among Russians has turned into a garbage dump.”
