A mega-exhibition for the tourism, hospitality and household sectors opened in Shanghai on Monday.
“Tourism Plus Shanghai +2021” is, in fact, three different fairs and shows combined into one, the exhibition is rounded off by 100 forums and summits, as well as 29 professional and international competitions, from canoeing to Chinese cuisine.

The event takes place on three sites covering an area of over 600,000 square meters.
Among the exhibitions – Hotelex Shanghai, an international exhibition of the hospitality industry, which takes place from March 29 to April 1. Agents and distributors will demonstrate a wide range of services and products for the hotel and restaurant business, including cleaning solutions, catering equipment, utensils, and food.
Hotel & Shop Plus, from March 30 to April 2, showcases the latest developments in hotel furniture, design and decor, as well as solutions to prevent epidemics and disinfection for the hospitality industry at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center.
In addition, the exhibition will open to visitors, which will present more than 1,200 square meters of spectacular tourist scenery, as well as the Chinese (Shanghai) International Boat Exhibition (CIBS) and a lifestyle exhibition, which presents more than 600 brands and more than 20 new products.
The purpose of the mega-exhibition is to support the tourism industry, encourage investment and cooperation in related sectors, as well as expand the capabilities of the entire industry chain. According to Cheng Meihong, deputy director of the Shanghai Department of Culture and Tourism, this is a major project of the “14th Five-Year Plan” of Shanghai and one of the three key programs of the city’s tourism industry.
Fang Shizhong, head of the local bureau of culture and tourism, said at the opening ceremony that tourism in Shanghai is an important window into “the way China sees the world,” and an important link for domestic and international tourism cooperation.
Fang said the city will launch a plan to develop its tourism industry by creating a number of world-class tourist resorts, implementing digital transformation and improving service.
