The conflict between residents and the mafia in Thailand was caught on video: criminal elements wanted to intercept the source of income – the parties staged a brawl.
According to The Thaiger, the incident took place on the island of Koh Lan. According to a resident, he was attacked by more than 10 members of the mafia gang.
“The video of the fight was posted on the network by one of the participants in the brawl, and the 31-year-old Kongkot became the victim of the beating. The reason for the attack is competition,” the source writes.
The resource adds that Kongkot works at the Bali Hai Pier. This is an extremely popular place among tourists who want to take pictures of the sunset or take a ride on a boat.
This is exactly what the injured man does: he rides guests on speed boats for 250 baht. By mutual agreement, all boat operators on the pier offer the same price.
However, according to Kongkot, the local mafia intervened in the arrangement. They started offering boat trips for 200 baht and even tried to convince tourists who had already booked tickets with other operators to buy tickets from them. The bandits threatened, intimidated competitors, and resorted to violence.
“They are not afraid of the law and the authorities. Despite repeated attacks, they have never been arrested,” said the author of the video.
Judging by the video, some residents tried to stop the attackers, but they continued to beat the man in front of the tourists.
Kongkot asked news agencies to spread his story so that the relevant authorities could finally start an investigation. And this is not the only case in the world when criminal groups interfere in the tourism sector.
