A tourist from Hong Kong fell off the bungee while bungee jumping. The cable broke and the man fell. However, he survived after falling into the water, reports CNN.
A tourist who asked reporters to call him Mike jumped from a 10-story building in the Thai resort of Pattaya while on vacation. Fortunately, the jump was organized over a body of water, so the Chinese man managed to survive.
“The rope suddenly broke, and I landed on my left side, with serious injuries. Feeling like someone beat me,” Mike said in an interview with CNN, describing his experience.
The man noted that he went to the park only to shoot, but plucked up the courage and bungee jumped after the persuasion of his friends.
According to the victim, when falling into the water, his legs were tied with a broken cable.
“If in such a situation a person does not know how to swim, then he has big problems,” he warned potential fans of extreme sports.
Mike told the publication that the park reimbursed the cost of his jump and paid for the X-ray and ultrasound in Thailand.
Nitit Intim, the owner of the park, confirmed that the emergency had indeed taken place and said that the cable broke for the first time in his memory.
“After the cord broke, our staff immediately pulled him [Mike] out of the water and asked if he was okay. He said he felt bruised. So we took him to the hospital,” he said.
Intim also added that Mike had signed a disclaimer before the jump. He sent journalists a scan of Mike’s signed waiver, as well as copies of medical bills in Thailand.
“Our employees explained to the tourist that if an accident occurs, the company will compensate for medical expenses. But the client has no right to demand anything else,” the publication quotes the owner of the park.
