A whale shark, the largest fish in the world, was spotted off the coast of the Egyptian resort of Marsa el-Alam. The Cairo24 portal writes about this.
The shark was seen by several divers diving into the Red Sea. It is believed that this species, despite its menacing appearance and impressive size, does not pose a danger to humans. Its average length is 13 meters, and its maximum weight is 21 tons.
This “fish” feeds mainly on plankton. The whale shark is on the verge of extinction.
However, not all Egyptian sharks are safe for humans. Thus, on September 13, it became known that a predator had attacked a woman who turned out to be an Egyptian citizen. The victim underwent several operations and lost her arm.
