In Malaysia, the border guards did not believe that the Ukrainian-Taiwanese photo model trying to enter the country and the girl in the photo in the passport she provided were the same person, so they wanted to turn her around and refuse to cross the border. However, the situation was resolved in favor of the tourist. She told me about this on her TikTok account.
Tetyana Lin, a Ukrainian actress, and model from Taiwan were on her way to Malaysia with her boyfriend when there was confusion at the airport. The border guards could not identify the girl, who was without make-up that day and looked completely different from her passport photo. The girl explained that she was photographed for the document with a lot of makeup on her face. Fortunately, the models were eventually allowed to enter sunny Malaysia.
Later, the Ukrainian woman talked about the incident on her page on social networks and admitted that she looked different in the picture.
Travelers should remember that makeup can affect the ability to enter several countries: for example, artificial intelligence scanners sometimes do not recognize facial features that match the passport.
We remind you that Ukrainians are allowed to apply makeup on their passport photos, however, the issuance of the document may be refused if the makeup drastically changes the tourist’s appearance. The unwritten rules for makeup for passport photos indicate that it is impossible to apply too dark and too light tonal foundation about the actual skin color, it is impossible to use basic products and sunscreens with a high level of SPF, and avoid using shadows with sparkles.
