“Official robbery” of tourists has been legalized at airports in Turkish resorts. This is how a tourist, horrified by local prices, described the situation in the international terminal of Dalaman Airport. The Turkish media cites his check, in which it is printed that two chocolate bars and a bottle of water cost this tourist 301 Turkish lira — that is. 570 hryvnias.
For 0.5L of Nestle water, which is priced at 8.50 TL in the markets, 53.86 TL is charged, while KitKat chocolate, which has a market price of 7 TL, is charged at 96.95 TL. This is an exorbitant price and legalized robbery,” the tourist was indignant.
We will remind you that earlier complaints about extortionate prices were also received from the Istanbul airport. There, outraged passengers also talked about the robbery. “I will rob you, and you will rob the passenger who came here”, – this is how an outraged correspondent of the local media, who published a column about extortionate prices for food at the local airport, described the pricing policy of the operator of the Istanbul International Airport. According to him, the main reason is that the rent of shops selling products is paid in euros, as a result of which the owners raise the prices, transferring all the losses to the tourist. “Pizza at Istanbul airport costs 530 TL, sandwiches – 110 TL, cans of drinks – 63 TL, and bottled water – 31 TL,” the observer reminded. That is, a pizza will cost more than UAH 1,000.
However, not only airports with high rental prices are trying to get into the pockets of tourists. In popular tourist places, you have to carefully monitor the prices in restaurants – otherwise, you can run into amazing price tags.
For example, tourists “made famous” the infamous DK Oyster bar on the resort island of Mykonos in Greece, where one tourist received a bill for four drinks and an appetizer for 425 euros. And in general, the beach bar on the wonderful island of Platis Jalos became famous for extortionate prices and was repeatedly accused of fraudulent actions against tourists.
