Despite gloomy forecasts, high electricity prices and the war in Ukraine, the winter tourist season in Bulgaria is successful, according to the Unified Tourist Information System of the Ministry of Tourism of Bulgaria.
The number of hotel stays doubled in December and January to 556,667. However, hotel occupancy was 67% of the occupancy rate recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic tourist season.
British and Israeli tourists returned to Bulgaria. The Bulgarian tourist market remains the most important for hoteliers, followed by the markets of Greece, Romania, Turkey, Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Russia and Northern Macedonia. Due to the thick snow cover, the ski slopes will be open until April 10 or 17.
