Tourists can count on free drinks on board the plane in several cases. They were listed by former flight attendant Shawn Catlin, who worked at the airline for 7 years.
Speaking to Sfgate, she talked about the first way: “One thing I like to tell people is it’s basic. You just need to say: “Hello, how is your day?” It is good when tourists are friendly and respectful to flight attendants because it will help travelers to count on additional service.”
The second effective way to get a free drink is to give an inexpensive gift to flight attendants that will definitely “love” them. It can be chocolate, candies, or tips. “I guarantee you’ll get free drinks if you do this as a thank you. One hundred percent,” she said.
The American low-cost carrier JetBlue stewardess also spoke about this issue earlier. In a conversation with The Points Guy, the expert said that a tourist’s clothing also affects the staff’s willingness to serve free drinks. “Presentation matters. I’m not saying you’ll get into another airline’s premium cabin just because of how you’re dressed. However, you can control how you are perceived and how you present yourself. Well-behaved passengers increase their chances that the drinks cart will stop by their seat several times when they want something to drink,” shared the expert.
According to another flight attendant, there are also ways to get free snacks on the flight. Thus, 26-year-old Lara Angell, a flight attendant of the British airline Virgin Atlantic, said that even economy class passengers could count on free food without money. “If an economy class tourist says he didn’t like the snack, one of us can just look into the service class above and grab something to eat from there. For example, we didn’t have herbal tea in economy class, but if one passenger asked for it, we could just go and bring it from there,” said the flight attendant.
