After a long summer season, the first snow fell in the resort province of Antalya. At the same time, in one of the eastern districts of Alanya, a giant tornado emerged from the sea on the beach, which caused panic among tourists vacationing there. Vivid natural changes taking place on the outskirts of the resort were captured by eyewitnesses’ mobile phone cameras.
According to the Turkish publication Ahaber, the first snow of this season fell in the morning on Mount Takhtala in Kemer at an altitude of 2,365 meters in the Alanya district of Antalya province. The summer was replaced by a sharp cooling in the resort province: if last weekend the air temperature confidently held at +24°C, then on Monday, November 7, the thermometer dropped immediately by 8°C. It was clarified that during the snowfall on the top of the mountain the temperature was about +3°C.
It should be noted that snow rarely falls in the coastal areas of Antalya, so tourists and vacationers go to the plateau, to the top of Saklikent or Mount Takhtala for snow. As Haydar Gyumrukcu, the general director of the cable car that serves the mountain, noted, the most important feature of the Kemer district is that it can be found here at the same time in all seasons. While it snows on the top of the mountain, tourists swim in the sea.
However, the province was not without a natural disaster: a giant tornado that formed near the coast near the Konakli district (a resort town between Antalya and Alanya) worried travelers. Seeing that the water tornado was approaching the beach, vacationers rushed to run. As it turned out later, a powerful tornado was visible from many points in the neighborhood. In social networks, users published videos with the element in the main role with captions: “Wow!” and “Friends raise water from the sea in a legendary way.” After reaching the shore, the whirlwind disappeared.
