made a 360-degree turn over the ocean on the night of February 27, 2023, so that all passengers on board could see an incredible view of the Northern Lights.
This was told by one of the passengers of the plane, Adam Groves, who was flying from Iceland’s Reykjavik to Manchester airport, writes The Independent.
“A big thank you to the pilot of EasyJet flight EZY1806 from Reykjavik to Manchester who did a 360-degree U-turn mid-flight so all passengers could see the incredible Northern Lights,” the man wrote on Twitter.
Groves, who came to Iceland on holiday to propose to his girlfriend, said there was a high chance of seeing the northern lights on the dates of their trip. However, during their entire stay in Iceland, it was very cloudy, so they could not see it from the ground. Already on the way back, they got such an opportunity when they were flying home above the clouds in a plane.
At the same time, FlightRadar24 explained that aircraft pilots are allowed to deviate from the route during the flight if they receive permission from the controllers before doing so.
It should be noted that at the beginning of this week, the aurora borealis could be seen in many northern countries.
As previously reported by DIP, seeing the northern lights is one of the main fantasies that tourists have.
