The crown of the Statue of Liberty in New York reopened to tourists

Tourists who come to New York can again buy a ticket to the Statue of Liberty with a visit to its highest “floor” – the crown. In March 2020, the inside of the attraction was closed to visitors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Statue of Liberty in New York has been open to visitors in parts throughout the pandemic, but the crown remained closed literally until yesterday, that is, more than two and a half years.

The National Park Service, which manages the New York monument, planned to open the attraction earlier, but the reopening was delayed several times. At first, pandemic restrictions in cities, states, and at the federal level were considered the main problem, then it turned out that there was a catastrophic lack of qualified personnel.

It was necessary to train newly hired employees in security protocols developed specifically for the crown, involve experienced guides in the training process, and bring newcomers up to date to effectively manage processes.

October 28 this year marks the 136th anniversary of the creation of the Statue of Liberty in 1886.

The unique sculpture was presented to the people of the United States by the French as a sign of friendship between peoples.

Interestingly, the interior of the statue was made by Alexander Gustave Eiffel, the author of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

To transport the Statue across the ocean, it had to be cut into 350 pieces.

At the crown of Statue 25, the eye overlooks New York Bay.

You can get to the island where the Statue of Liberty is located on the Statue City Cruises ferry – this is the only ferry service authorized by the National Park Service. Ferry tickets that include a visit to the Statue must be booked in advance online or by phone.

A regular ticket costs $18.5, and a personalized ticket with a rise inside the crown costs $21.5.
