Almost 20 million tourists visited Turkey in 2021. As a result, by 2020 the tourist flow increased by 94%, but by the results of 2019 by another 45% “not grown”. Such dizzying official statistics were provided by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
As expected, Russia proved to be the absolute leader. The increase by 2020 was 120.5%, but the “substantial” results have not yet risen – 33.1% fewer tourists. The share was 19%, that is, every fifth tourist in Turkey was Russian.
Next, by the way, is Germany – 3 million tourists, with an increase of 175% and Ukraine – 2 million trips and the only country where the share of “evidence” statistics increased by + 33%. Another large market – the UK – has invested little in 2021, due to obvious restrictions – only 392 thousand tourists came from there, which is almost 90% less than before the pandemic. However, in 2022, British tourists intend to “play back” this fall – so ours is waiting for the battle for a place under the sun.
As for the most visited places, they were Istanbul – almost 9 million; Antalya 8.7 million and Edirne 2.6 million. Antalya is expected to be the most popular among Ukrainian tourists – 41% of the foreign tourist flow to the province and three quarters of all Russian. This is followed by Istanbul and the resorts of the Aegean Sea.
