The wind blew away a beach umbrella and pierced the chest of an American woman relaxing on the beach in Garden City. It is reported by the Associated Press.
The umbrella hit 63-year-old Tammy Perrault, causing a chest injury. The woman died in the hospital an hour after the incident.
The sharp tip of a beach umbrella is needed to keep them in the sand. But because of the wide canopy, the umbrella can be blown away by the wind if they are loosely fastened. Every year about three thousand vacationers in America are injured in this way.
Virginia has called for a review of parasol requirements and launched a safety campaign after a woman died in 2016.
