“If you can’t prevent it, lead it!” The Thai authorities are preparing to act on this principle, planning to allow tourists to sin in a new way, but the main thing is to keep the money of local gambling enthusiasts in the country. It is for this purpose that the House of Representatives of Thailand, as the Thai publication Thaiger writes, has established a special committee of 60 people to analyze the potential launch of a casino in the country. This step is aimed at solving the problem of underground casinos, as well as “improving the financial condition of the country.”
At least two parties supported the proposal: Moving Forward and One Nation Thailand. As Rangsiman Reem, a member of parliament from the Move Forward Party, explained, the issue is not new – the previous House of Representatives created a working group to carefully study this issue.
He followed up by emphasizing the need to “take preventive measures against malicious influence.”
“Legalizing casinos directly in Thailand could lead to the decline of the underground gambling business, as well as casinos operating on the borders, thereby redirecting the money of Thai players to government revenues,” he assured.
In turn, the MP from the One Nation of Thailand party Chatchawal emphasized the financial losses resulting from the travel of Thai citizens to neighboring countries for the sake of gambling in casinos.
He proposed the strategic placement of at least five entertainment and casino complexes across the country – one each in the north, south, east, west, and central plains. They will be able to attract not only residents, but also tourists who want to “sin in a new way”, and will also provide employment opportunities, saving some Thais from having to look for work abroad.
Note that in major religions this entertainment is considered a sin: Gambling is a way of entertainment, but also a way of unrighteous acquisition, it is disguised theft (25th apostolic canon), and church rules condemn them for the sinful result that arises from theft, drunkenness, wasted time, outrages, etc.
