According to the Bangkok Post, from June this year, the Thai authorities will begin to collect a fee from tourists when entering the country. This was stated by the head of the Thai Ministry of Tourism Pipat Ratchakitprakan.
According to him, foreign tourists will have to pay a fee of 300 baht (about $9) when entering the kingdom. Foreigners who have a work permit are exempted from paying the fee.
All funds raised from the tour will be used to support tourists affected by accidents, as well as to develop Thai tourist destinations.
In 2023, the Thai authorities expect about 25 million foreign visitors to arrive.
