According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), a Buddhist temple in Thailand was empty after all of its monks failed a drug test. All of them were removed from service.
The incident happened at a temple in the Bung Sam Phan area (Phetchabun province) last Monday. All four monks (including the abbot) failed a drug test – he tested positive for methamphetamine.
All Buddha’s servants were sent to a clinic for drug rehabilitation.
New monks will be sent to the temple as the locals are concerned that they cannot perform the rituals.
According to the UN, Thailand is considered a major transit point for methamphetamine coming from Myanmar through Laos.
