The Taiwan authorities decided to attract tourists unusually – they will spend money that can be used for housing, food, and entertainment.
The new program will be implemented in two stages. Until 2023, they plan to attract about 6 million tourists, and by 2026—to increase this figure to 10 million, writes the portal 34travel.me.
Thus, individual tourists will be able to receive NT$5,000 (about €154), and groups—NT$20,000 (about €615). Valid, how you can apply for “grants” is not yet reported.
“The money will be allocated through several activities to promote tourism,” said Chang Shi-Chung, director general of the Tourism Bureau.
At the same time, other countries are imposing tourism taxes. Traveler fees are already in place in Turkey, Latvia, and Spain. In Thailand and Seychelles, they plan to introduce it a little later this year.
