According to the Swedish Ministry of Justice, the entry ban for travelers from non-EU/EEA countries will not be extended and will expire on April 1, 2022. This also means that when entering Sweden, the requirement to present a certificate of vaccinations and tests will be removed.
In order to prevent the spread of covid-19 in Sweden, a temporary entry ban was introduced in March 2020 for foreign nationals traveling from countries outside the EU/EEA. It has been continuously extended and the current entry ban is valid until March 31, 2022.
The Swedish Public Health Agency considers that entry restrictions in terms of infection control are no longer a proportionate measure.
From April 1, 2022, covid-19 will no longer be classified as a general and socially dangerous disease. Although the pandemic is not yet over, it has entered a new phase thanks to high vaccination coverage combined with the fact that the risk of serious illness is lower for the currently dominant omicron virus variant.
