The German-Turkish airline Sun Express is convinced that this year the demand for holidays in Turkey will be as high as in 2019. Therefore, she plans daily flights to this country from 15 airports in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Sun Express is a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines. His business model is based on three pillars: servicing a typical tourist flow from German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), the so-called Ethnic travel is the visit of relatives and friends of Turks living abroad and on domestic flights to Turkey.
Thanks to such a variety of passenger segments, the carrier was not affected by the pandemic and even made a profit. Last year, the operating result was 59 million euros with a turnover of 750 million euros and 6 million passengers.
This season, the company’s executives are placing more hope on typical tourist flights, says President Max Kovnacki, quoted by the German tourism industry portal Reise-vor9. Currently, ticket sales are higher than in 2019.
This year’s Sun Express flight schedule includes 14 destinations in Anatolia, where you can fly from 18 European cities. There were several innovations – flights from Dusseldorf to the Horde, from Dortmund to Zonguldak, Vienna in Kayseri and Samsun, as well as from Copenhagen to Ankara.
