
Istanbul is under a “yellow” weather warning: severe thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, flooding and gusty winds are expected. The alert also extends to nearby provinces including Kocaeli, Sakarya, Düzce, Zonguldak, Bartin.
Forecasts indicate that after 3 p.m., storms will develop in western districts (Silivri, Arnavutköy, Çatalca) and spread toward central Istanbul. Activity is projected to intensify through evening and overnight.
Meteorological head Prof. Orhan Şen cautions: “Heavy rains, flash flooding, hail and sudden wind bursts may damage property and pose health risks.”
