South Korea prepares to lift coronavirus restrictions for the first time in two years

The South Korean authorities are considering the possibility for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to remove some of the covid restrictions in the country. Officially, this can be announced already on April 15 at the next meeting of the local operational headquarters, KBC TV channel reports.

In particular, among the proposed measures: the complete or partial abolition of the quarantine regime; lifting restrictions on the operation of entertainment and catering establishments; the opening of cinemas, beauty salons, sports grounds and stadiums; the abolition of the moratorium on visits to park areas and religious sites; permission to gather in companies of up to 4 people.

It is specified that a significant improvement in the epidemiological situation in the country can push the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic to such a decision. So, on April 13, 148 thousand new cases of coronavirus infection were registered in South Korea, which is 46 thousand less than the day before. According to representatives of the Ministry of Health, such results indicate the development of herd immunity among the inhabitants of the country.
