“So dirty it made me sick.” The disorder on the planes caused indignation among passengers

Passengers reacted negatively to the dirt and mess on the planes, Travelpulse.com reports.

Recently, a passenger on the Irish airline Ryanair posted a video on TikTok where he shows the dirt and mess on the plane when boarding a flight. The footage shows crumbs on the floor of the board, which were not removed before the next flight. The New York Times social media posted these images of the mess.

The turmoil sparked not only backlash on social media, but also questions about whether airlines are following tough rules imposed since the pandemic.

Later, passengers from other airlines began showing clutter and dirt on other airlines’ planes. For example, on a Delta plane, a passenger saw so many crumbs between the seats and grease/dirt on the vents that she felt sick.

In the comments, some passengers attempted to justify flight attendants and companies: “They only have 25 minutes on the ground and they barely make it through security checks,” “Don’t blame them, blame the people who left the mess.”

Other commenters have pointed out that there is a big difference between COVID disinfection protocols and just general cleaning. Some airlines have abandoned pandemic-related disinfection procedures introduced two years ago, while others have adopted new measures. American Airlines, for example, said it cleans up after every flight. JetBlue has changed its cleaning policy to only disinfect aircraft that arrive in the US from overseas. However, most airlines require crew members to clean cabins between flights.
