A visitor to a beach in the Spanish municipality of Oliva, in the province of Valencia, survived a blue shark attack and made his way to the medical center.
A shark attacked a man standing knee-deep in the sea on Thursday, August 17. It is reported by Las Provincias.
According to the victim, the predator bit him on the leg so quickly that he did not even have time to react. Moreover, the man did not immediately understand what had happened. When he noticed that blood was coming from his leg, he first went into the sea, deciding not to frighten other bathers. Then the man calmly got out of the water and independently reached the first-aid post.
Doctors treated the wound and gave the man a tetanus shot. Later, experts determined that the man was attacked by a blue shark. After that, the beach was temporarily closed to the public.
The victim claims that what happened did not frighten him.
“The first thing I’m going to do when my leg heals is to go back to the beach,” he said.
The blue shark is one of the most common species of these fish. Its average length is from three and a half to four meters. The average weight is 150-200 kilograms. Dozens of unprovoked attacks by blue sharks on humans have been recorded, some of which have resulted in deaths.
