As News Week reports, everything happened on Rabdells beach in Oliva, in the Spanish province of Valencia. The hiker was standing in shallow water when he noticed a shadow approaching him. “I didn’t have time to get scared,” he says.
The tourist felt a blow on his left leg, and then “sharp teeth” that dug into his right leg. “Noticing that I was bleeding, I quickly left so as not to disturb everyone,” the victim said. According to experts, the predator was a blue shark. They reach a length of 4 meters and are found near the coasts of all continents except Antarctica. They are not usually aggressive towards humans, but incidents can occur, especially in the summer when there are more people in the water. A total of 13 attacks of this type on people were counted, and 4 ended in death. However, these sharks usually do not hunt people, experts add.
