Secrets of the Pharaohs: unique treasures found in the “Golden City”

Egypt, the land of the pharaohs, continues to amaze the world with its archaeological treasures. Recently, researchers came across a discovery that was stunning in its significance and grandeur. In the depths of the dunes, the “Golden City” was discovered – a place that hid secrets and treasures equal in importance to the tomb of Tutankhamun. What exactly did scientists discover, and why is this discovery so important for the world?

A city called Aten was found near Luxor, BBC News reports. The discovery was announced by famous Egyptologist Zahi Hawass. According to him, this is the largest ancient city that has ever been found in Egypt.

Aten was founded by Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who ruled the country from 1391 to 1353 BC. Pharaohs Ay and Tutankhamun also used it. Three thousand years later, the city remains with almost intact walls and rooms filled with objects from the everyday life of the Egyptians.

“This discovery will give us a rare glimpse into the lives of the ancient Egyptians at a time when the empire was richer,” said Johns Hopkins University Egyptology professor Betsy Bryan.

Excavations began in September 2020. Then scientists discovered many valuable finds, such as jewelry, colored ceramics, amulets in the form of scarab beetles, and bricks with the seal of Amenhotep III.
