A Ryanair flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife was forced to make an emergency landing in Portugal after several passengers began fighting during the flight.
According to the Independent, during the confrontation, passengers insulted each other and threw bottles. The crew members were forced to start breaking up the rowdies two hours after the start of the flight, when there were almost five hours left before arrival.
The children on board flight FR2969 were crying and frightened by what was happening. Footage taken inside the salon shows a man and woman pointing at each other and shouting obscenities.
Police dropped off problem passengers in Porto. The plane continued its flight to the Canary Islands two hours behind schedule.
“A flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife on February 25 was forced to land at Porto when a small group of passengers began to behave erratically on board. Crew members alerted police in advance and the aircraft was met on arrival by local police who removed the disruptive passengers before the flight continued its route to Tenerife. Now this is a matter for the local police,” the airline said.
