Thai police detained two Russians in the province of Surrat Thani for begging. Yevgeny, 36, and Alexander, 32, tried to move the Thais and other tourists to pity with the theme of the war. A sign held by one of the relocators said, according to local media, “Help! I’m running from the war. My money is gone. I don’t want to go back to war. Can you help with a donation? Do you have free food for me?”
The Russians told the police that they had arrived in Thailand on December 9, but the money was not enough even for a month.
Begging is considered a crime in the country, and the legislation in this area was tightened in 2019, since then, for molesting passers-by to receive alms, you can get a month in prison or a fine of up to 10 thousand baht.
