A popular beach in the UK has been ‘littered with rubbish’ and has been heavily criticized by a well-known travel portal, with shocked vacationers vowing to ‘never go back’, reports The Sun.
The media writes that Camber Sands Beach in the south of England, which is one of the kingdom’s most famous seaside resorts, was criticized in the comments of the popular travel site TripAdvisor.
Some users of the portal left a one-word review about the recreation area: “Depressive”. Among almost two thousand reviews, the beach was rated “terrible” 59 times, and “bad” another 48 times. Tourists add “horror stories” about a famous tourist destination to weak ratings.
One user criticized the “depressing beach” in his review, describing his stay there as a “disgusting experience”:
“The footbath was surrounded by a puddle of dirty water that wouldn’t drain. Piles of dog excrement along the way. The beach was filled with groups of people yelling and cursing at each other.
The beach could have been beautiful, but instead, there is rubbish everywhere, including used toilet paper rolls in the dunes and the baby pools, cigarette butts everywhere, glass bottles, cans, plastic bags, disposable barbecues, and diapers.
It smelled like garbage in here! I will never come back here! It was dull and dreary, despite the hot weather and the scorching sun,” a disgruntled vacationer with the nickname Rnovell concluded his review.
Some have shared photos on Twitter of overflowing trash cans and abandoned fire pits covered in dangerous broken glass. And all this on the beach – the most comfortable, it would seem, place for a family holiday.
Another user spoke about his experience, calling his time on the famous beach “the most terrible time.”
“Worst experience ever! Dirty, people use liquid nitrous oxide in front of children, and no one cares! This is a paradise for alcoholics and drug addicts! People with families should avoid this place,” the publication cites an angry tourist review.
And a third user criticized local amenities, including “dirty and unhygienic” restrooms, and claimed that condoms, lighters, and tents were among the things lying on the sand. He wondered “why people are like that.”
According to The Sun, the deplorable state of the beach may be because Camber Sands was recently included in the list of 70 British beaches where locals were advised not to swim due to the effects of heavy rains.
Even with all of the above, Camber Sands is a popular seaside resort with the British, it was named a beach with “hidden dangers” after five young people drowned there at the same time in 2016.
