Several passengers of Delta Air Lines lost consciousness due to record-breaking heat in the cabin. Details of the story are described in the Fox Business edition.
The incident took place at the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. According to Fox News contributor Christa Garvin, who was on board, several passengers who were waiting to fly to Atlanta felt unwell due to the extreme temperature – it rose to 111 degrees Fahrenheit (about 44 degrees Celsius), and at times reached 115 degrees Fahrenheit (about 46 degrees Celsius). The air conditioning on board did not work – it is not specified if it was broken.
The passenger added that the situation worsened when the pilot announced that the plane had to return to the boarding gate due to numerous emergency reports. The babies on board began to scream, and the flight attendants had to carry oxygen cylinders around the cabin.
The journalist also said that passengers who felt unwell were asked to leave the plane, but they were warned that the next flight to Atlanta would take place only in a few days. Therefore, according to her, many tourists preferred to stay in a stuffy cabin.
Four hours later, it was announced that the flight had been canceled after all, and passengers were asked to return to the airport as several crew members had also passed out, the source said. According to an eyewitness, five passengers and one flight attendant were taken out of the plane on a stretcher in an oxygen mask.
A spokesman for the Harry Reid International Airport noted that the air harbor management is not aware of the incident. Delta Air Lines said in a statement that it is investigating the cause of the incident. Later, the passengers received an apology, as well as compensation, the source said.
