Not only Egypt, the interest of Ukrainian and Russian tourists has brought 100% occupancy and overbooking – luxury destinations are not insured against this. According to Ukrainian tour operators, the increased demand is recorded for the New Year’s Maldives, as a result, even in luxury resorts, tourists can deal with the situation “No seats.”
At least such data is provided by ATOR, referring to the comments of tour operators. For example, Club Med has already fully booked both of the company’s Maldives resorts – Club Med Kani and Club Med The Finolhu Villas. Virtually sold out tours in the “Intourist” – its experts generally advise to book the villas of interest, 5-6 months before arrival. “Mass” players such as ANEX Tour, TUI and “Pegasus Tourist” also report an active demand and shortage of seats.
Problems not only with hotels – problems also arise with transfer to high dates. As the delivery of guests to specific islands is mainly carried out by seaplanes, and only in daylight, there is a very high traffic. As a result, hotels, in order to avoid delays on international flights, are forced to deliver tourists to the airport in 3-4 hours instead of the usual two. There were also quite long queues upon arrival. As a result, Mali plans to open a new terminal for seaplanes – which tour operators are looking forward to by the end of the year.
In total, according to official statistics, from January 1 to November 17, the Maldives was visited by almost 1.1 million foreign tourists, twice as many as in the whole of 2020. At the same time, Ukraine is in the top ten key entry markets of the Maldives. The reason for this – including the expansion of the range of package tours and the reduction in prices that followed.
