One of the country’s main attractions burned down in ThailandA massive fire caused serious damage to Pattaya’s Four Regions floating market, with damage estimated at 50 million baht, Pattaya News reports.
The fire is believed to have started in a wooden toilet building on Thursday (September 7) after 7 pm. Police, firefighters, and about 20 pieces of equipment arrived at the scene of the fire. The fire was extinguished after three hours.
At this stage, the cost of damage is estimated at at least 50 million baht. According to the publication, many sellers tried to pull things out of the fire, and some jumped into the water to save their lives.
Pattaya City Mayor Poramese Ngampiches arrived on the scene shortly after the fire started and, together with senior fire officials, set up a command center to determine the exact cause of the fire and provide support to those affected.
The Pattaya Floating Market is a major tourist attraction, covering approximately 60 acres and consisting mainly of bamboo and wood. The market has hundreds of stalls and is usually visited by thousands of tourists a day.
