Mass migration of Russians was recorded in Turkey. According to the Turkish media, according to the international migration statistics of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) for 2022, Russia took first place in terms of the number of people who entered the country. It accounted for about a quarter of those who moved to the country.
At the same time, in general, migration to Turkey, at least officially, has decreased – it is 33.2% less than last year. At the same time, the first place among those who entered was occupied by Russians – they accounted for 25% of all migrants.
In total, 99,786 Russian citizens moved to Turkey, three times more than in 2021. Ukraine is in second place with 8.1%, Iran with 6.5%, Afghanistan with 5.4%, and Iraq with 4.8%.
At the same time, on average, young people aged 25-29 entered Turkey (not surprisingly, ed.)—this age group includes 12.2% of citizens from all countries. Migrants are mainly attracted to Istanbul – 35.4% went there. Antalya, Ankara, Bursa, and Mersin are also popular cities among migrants.
