A huge crocodile scared vacationers swimming in the sea off the tourist island of Dauphin in the US state of Alabama. The Mirror drew attention to the video.
A huge reptile about 1.5 meters in size was photographed by tourist Matt Harvill, who was relaxing on the beach with his girlfriend.
“Suddenly, the man noticed a creature frolicking in the waves of the surf in shallow water near the tourist island. A hefty crocodile scared the vacationer, but, despite his shock, Matt pulled out his phone and filmed the predator,” the source shares the details.
The author accompanied the video with the caption: “Tell me where else you can go to the beach and the zoo at the same time.”
“It was a beautiful day and my girlfriend and I were just hanging out on the beach when someone mentioned seeing an alligator. So we went downstairs to get a better look and take some pictures. It’s not every day something like this happens. I knew that if I didn’t take pictures, no one would ever believe it,” said an eyewitness.
Although alligators live primarily in fresh water, they can tolerate salt water for hours or even days, according to the National Ocean Service. Predators are sometimes found on the beach of Dauphine Island, as there is also fresh water, the scientists said.
Users in the comments reacted vividly to the footage of the reptile resting peacefully in the water:
“He’s a body surfer,” someone wrote.
Another added: “I’ll go crazy if I see this. New beach fear unlocked.”
“They sail there in search of sea turtle eggs,” the commentator shared his zoological knowledge.
“It’s cool. Crazy, but cool! I haven’t been on the island for too long,” a local resident admitted.
