On a desert island in the Maldives, a vacancy for a barefoot bookseller has opened

On the uninhabited island of Kunfunadu in the Maldives, they are looking for an employee who will sell books. It is reported by The Guardian.

The local bookstore invites a person who loves adventure, is friendly, creative, and ready to go exclusively barefoot. The island, where luxury resorts are located, has a rule that it is forbidden to wear shoes on it. There is also a ban on reading the news on Kungfunado.

“The code of ethics on the island is no shoes, no news. Guests are encouraged to connect with the earth,” Alex McQuinn, spokesman for Ultimate Library, who runs the bookstore at Soneva Fushi Resort, told the publication.

He added that a successful candidate is expected to be open to guests and be able to make personalized recommendations for them regarding a list of suitable books to read.

“The employee will be largely on his own, so he will need to manage everything on his own,” warned McQuinn. Whoever is elected to the position will be signed to a one-year contract starting in October.
