Because of the large-scale forest fires that rage in Canada, New York was covered with a dense cloud of smoke. Residents of the city are advised to wear masks, reports The Wall Street Journal.
Residents of the metropolis share video frames on social networks, in which even skyscrapers are not visible due to smoke.
Air quality in New York has dropped to dangerous levels. The city took second place in the air quality anti-rating. Delhi is in first place.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams urged residents to limit outdoor activities. School outdoor activities have also been cancelled. People are advised not to go out without masks. Also, according to media reports, some flights destined for New York’s LaGuardia Airport and airport flights to New Jersey were suspended.
Smoke also covered the Midwestern states and the northeastern United States, from North and South Dakota to Massachusetts.

According to meteorologists, air quality in cities should improve by the weekend.
Previously, smoke from wildfires in eastern Canada reached the country’s capital, Ottawa, and its largest city, Toronto. Quebec, located in the east of the country, suffered the most. Bordering Ottawa was engulfed in smog on June 6, with air quality at its worst.
