New simplified rules for entry into Thailand have been announced by local authorities. From next Friday, April 1, the mandatory quarantine period for unvaccinated travelers who decide to visit the kingdom will be reduced to five days. In addition, you no longer need to undergo PCR testing for coronavirus before leaving. According to Thai media, the official announcement will be published later this month.
Unvaccinated travelers entering Thailand under the Alternative Quarantine program will now be able to undergo mandatory quarantine on arrival at the hotel for only five days instead of ten as before.
It is specified that those who have been vaccinated with a government or WHO approved drug at least 14 days before the trip can enter the country through a quarantine test & Go or Sandbox (valid for those entering Pattaya, Phuket or Samui). In addition, before leaving for Thailand, all travelers must apply for a Thai Pass QR code through the official website of the Department of Consular Affairs.
Last week, the Covid-19 Situation Management Center decided to reduce the quarantine period and abandon the pre-flight test for coronavirus, which previously had to take 72 hours before takeoff. The new rules are due to take effect on April 1, but before they become official, they must be published in the government’s Royal Gazette.
