Dodgy holidaymakers competing with their tribesmen at resort hotels for the best spots by the pool from early in the morning have become a common sight across Europe this summer. A lot of videos have appeared on the social network, about how foreigners organize morning runs to sunbeds with towels. Practically today, the most impudent tourists in resort hotels were named, and they, as expected, turned out to be Russian tourists as well.
According to The Sun, we are talking about ill-mannered Britons, Frenchmen, and Russians with the first word “Tagil”. The most popular place of their races became the resorts of the Canary Islands of Spain, Greece, and others.
Numerous footage shows tourists running out of the hotel with towels every morning, knocking each other off their feet to try and grab the best spots by the pool. One user superimposed a sax version of Benny Hill’s Yakety, well-known to Ukrainians, on top of his video to emphasize the comicalness of the moment and captioned his video: “Crazies knocking each other off their feet to get to the couch.” Fortunately for the tourists who became the heroes of the video, the author turned off the comments, depriving the first of the people’s court.
In the footage of other videos, you can see how almost every sunbed at the resort is occupied not by a tourist, but by his towel: this is how impatient people mark their territory. According to an eyewitness, for this, vacationers get up at 5:00 in the morning, arm themselves with a towel, hurry to spread them near the sunbeds, and then go about their business.
The videos on social media have become the subject of a heated debate about which countries lead the way in boorishness and trespassers when it comes to seizing sunbeds. As a result, British, Russian, and French tourists led the anti-rating races. Here are the verbal data of eyewitnesses:
- “I am German and I live in Great Britain. During my last vacation in Greece, the English took towels until 6:00.
- “The French gave up even earlier. I couldn’t believe my eyes.”
- “I am currently in a hotel for Englishmen in Spain and I can confirm that it is us, the British. Many Russians and no Germans.”
The battle for sunbeds in hotels is a well-documented conflict that has been going on for years. Some hotels have their ways of dealing with this, such as removing towels from sunbeds if they have not been used for a certain period. Others force tourists to pre-book lounges so people can’t reserve them with towels despite not wanting to use them later.
