In India, a freight train and a passenger train collided, then another train with passengers crashed into derailed cars. According to updated data, 288 people died, and more than 900 were injured.
The tragedy occurred yesterday, June 2, near the city of Balasore: 12 wagons of a passenger train heading from Calcutta to Chennai derailed after colliding with a freight train and fell onto the opposite track. After some time, another train with passengers crashed into them, and four more cars with people derailed.
The ongoing rescue operation involves members of the National Disaster Relief Force, volunteers, and the military. Many passengers may still be under the overturned carriages.
