A tourist from Australia rioted in Thailand and was arrested. The incident occurred in the queue “for kebabs” at the barbecue: a man in a state of intoxication behaved aggressively towards the employees of the institution.
According to eyewitnesses, when the staff refused to serve drunk tourists out of turn, young people began to throw bottles. The shocking incident was caught on video: employees of the establishment protect themselves with kitchen utensils, mops, pipes, and chairs.
By the time the police arrived, the tourists managed to escape from the scene, the police are confident that they will identify them.
“All participants in the fight were identified by CCTV cameras. Such behavior can damage the reputation of the area and affect tourism, so we will prosecute all tourists by the law,” commented Police Captain Nattawut Saraitong.
The instigator was detained and interrogated at the Patong police station. It turned out to be 34-year-old Hassan Heva Karen, the man admitted his participation in the fight and explained that he threw a bottle of water at the staff, as he was dissatisfied with the slow service.
Officers arranged for the Australian to meet with two restaurant workers involved in the fight. The parties exchanged apologies, but reconciliation will not help the offender escape punishment.
