The Israeli authorities have decided to suspend the green passport system amid a decline in the number of cases of COVID-19. In addition, it is planned to abandon some other coronavirus restrictions, reports the Associated Press.
It is noted that the level of infection in the country is still high, but the number of hospitalizations is incomparably lower than in previous months. Such indicators allowed experts from the Ministry of Health to recommend to the Israeli government to temporarily abandon the use of “green passes”. Later, experts will again analyze the epidemiological situation and the results of the weakening of anti-COVID measures.
Recall that COVID-passports are issued to citizens who have had a disease or have completed a full course of immunization, including the third dose of the vaccine. The document was required when visiting leisure establishments or participating in public events.
As for Ukrainian tourists, they also do not have to issue a “green passport”. Nevertheless, the rest of the rules for entering Israel and staying in the country remain. The state is still ready to accept only vaccinated and recovered travelers. Moreover, the Ministry of Tourism is actively working to restore the industry. One of the agency’s recent proposals is to allow foreign families with unvaccinated children under the age of 12 to enter from March.
