The Government of India will introduce a new National Tourism Policy 2022 to boost tourism in the country. Speaking at the National Tourism Conference in New Delhi, line minister Gangapuram Kishan Reddy said the policy would be launched before the upcoming budget session. He noted that the tourism sector will play an important role in turning India into a developed nation by 2047.
Speaking on the occasion, Om Birla, Speaker of the Lower House of the Indian Parliament, mentioned that the country could become the best tourist destination in the world if it provided tourists with safety and comfort. He added that India is endowed with natural resources and has a rich heritage.
The agenda of the conference is the introduction of a unified tourist police scheme at the pan-Indian level to develop traveler-focused policing. The goal of the conference is also to provide a safer ecosystem for foreign visitors and local residents in and around tourist centers.
