According to the Anadolu news agency, the Aegean and Mediterranean seas overflowed their shores in Turkey, resulting in the flooding of several cities, in particular Izmir and Antalya.
The General Directorate of Meteorology and the Emergency Directorate (AFAD) of Turkey issued emergency warnings for 64 of the country’s 81 provinces: the penultimate, orange level of danger was declared in 44 provinces, and yellow in another 20.
Thus, several areas in Izmir were flooded, including the central tourist areas of Alsancak and Kordon. Ferries have been suspended due to bad weather. Streets along with cars, residential buildings, and public buildings were flooded.
In many areas of Antalya, trees were uprooted, cars were damaged, streets and the first floors of buildings were flooded, and canals overflowed their banks in the Kepez area. At least two boats sank in Manavgat, and yachts were also sunk in the center of Antalya.
In Dalaman, in the resort province of Mugla, a tornado occurred, which tore off the roofs of houses and lifted garbage containers into the air.
In Istanbul, the air temperature dropped by 10 degrees at once — to +8 °C, and it is raining in several areas. In the Kyagithane district, the roof of a residential building was blown off by the wind. Flights have been canceled and delayed at airports.
