In the Atlantic Ocean, communication was lost with an underwater vehicle that brought tourists to the depths to inspect the remains of the Titanic, Fox News reports.
The Coast Guard says there are five people aboard the missing craft, including one crew member. Among the tourists, according to preliminary information, British billionaire Hamish Harding and three other major businessmen.
Airborne searches are currently underway. Rescuers hope that it will surface, as it is programmed to rise to the surface of the water in case of technical problems.
There is also an assumption that the submarine is stuck among the wreckage of the ship. The crew had about 60 hours of oxygen left.
According to the publication, OceanGate charges tourists $250,000 for a place on their expeditions to the wreck of the Titanic, which is located at a depth of 3,800 meters, 600 kilometers off the coast of Newfoundland in Canada.
The company has not yet commented on the disappearance of the device with people.
